Do i still need to wear a face mask?

Your choice. It is no longer mandatory for face coverings to be worn in England, however if requested I can be wearing a mask and a window can be opened.

How Much does it cost?

A Ring Workshop for one costs £65 plus materials. A Ring Workshop for two costs £120 plus materials. A Ring Workshop for three costs £185 plus materials. Materials cost approximately £10-£30 per ring depending on the finished weight at the end of the session.

No student discount is offered.

I have a voucher, how do i book?

If you have received a Ring Workshop Voucher please email me with preferred dates and times. I will do my best to book you in when best suits you but please note weekdays are usually booked up 2-3 weeks in advance and Saturdays over a month in advance. Please also note material costs may still apply.

What is accessibility like?

The studio is on the ground floor and all one level, however there are two steps up into the building. There is no onsite parking and the studio is on a dead end road with double yellow lines. However we are pretty central so there are a number of car parks a 3-5 minute walk away. We are situated a 6 minute walk from both the Bus Station and Canterbury East Train Station and a 15 minute walk from Canterbury West Train Station.
Please get in touch with any specific needs and I will do what I can to accommodate all.

I’ve never done anything like this before, will I be able to make a good ring?

Yes, the experience is designed for beginners and is fully guided by myself. You will be hands on making your own ring and are encouraged to make it unique, I make sure everyone leaves with a complete ring they can be proud to wear. No experience is needed, however due to the nature of the workshop participants must be over 18.

What kind of ring can I make?

The workshop is designed for beginners so we will be making relatively straightforward rings. Texture can be added to your band using hammers and stamps. Some examples of rings that have been made in previous workshops can be found below and on my instagram.
Please note signet style rings will not be achievable.

I have a specific design I want to make.

To avoid disappointment please send me images of what you’d like to make so I can decide if it is achievable and make sure I have everything you need in the studio ready. If you don’t have any idea of what you’d like to make thats no problem at all, I will advise on a range of designs on the day.

Can I put stones in the ring?

No unfortunately we will not get round to mounting or setting stones during the workshop. If you’d like a stone added to your ring it can be left with me in the studio to mount and set, this usually takes around a week. I can set a stone you bring with you (lots of people have brought in a piece of found sea glass) or I can source a stone for you.

I don’t really wear rings can I make something else?

I run the workshops as a ring making experience because in order to hand forge a silver ring you learn a larger range of silversmithing techniques than other items. If you do not wear rings you can make one for someone else, alternatively a ring can be made into a pendant or the workshop can be adapted to make hoop earrings if arranged in advance.

is it solid silver?

Yes we will be working with solid 925 sterling silver.
Please note it will not be possible to bring your own silver to melt down and re-use.

How long will the workshop last?

Approximately 2 to 3 hours. I cannot guarantee an exact time as it depends on the design you choose and your ability.

What if I don’t finish in time?

I make sure everyone leaves with a complete ring they can be proud to wear, if I have another booking/appointment to follow I may need to assist on the finishing stages.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

If you have a voucher please bring it with you. As this is a practical workshop I recommend you wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and closed toe shoes. If you wear glasses for close up work I recommend you bring them.

Can I arrange a group booking?

Sorry no more than three attendees, no exceptions.
